We are seeking a full-time Building Inspectors II and III for ourclients in Phoenix/Tuscon, Arizona. Building Inspectors are considered highly skilled in performing inspections of bothcommercial and residential projects, enforcing codes and regulations in a broadrange of building with varied relevant code sets. The work requires independence,discretion, and finesse. Responsibilities

Building Inspector II The Building Inspector II is the journey level class responsible for performing the fullscope of assigned duties. Incumbents are considered skilled in making inspections,performing plan checks and enforcing codes and regulations in a broad range ofbuilding and related codes. The work requires independence and discretion in bothfield inspections and plan checks. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Supervising Building Inspector, in that the latter isresponsible for supervision and performance of more complex inspection andassignments. Building Inspector III Building Inspector III is the advanced journey level class responsible for performingthe full scope of assigned duties. Incumbents are considered skilled in makinginspections as outlined in the Inspector I and II classifications, performingarchitectural plan checks and enforcing codes and regulations in a broad range ofbuilding and related codes. The work requires independence and discretion in administrative support, field inspections and plans examination. This classification isdistinguished from the next higher classification of Supervising Building Inspector,in that the latter is responsible for supervision and performance of more complexassignments and an advanced level of supervising personnel. ICC Residential and Commercial Building Inspector Certifications 2+ years of experience working as an inspector in a jurisdiction. Working knowledge of the International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Mechanical Code, International Plumbing Code, and the National Electrical Code; working knowledge of current construction methods, materials, tools and equipment. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Ability to detect hazards and violations and recommend corrective measures during field inspection work; ability to enforce regulations with firmness, consistency, tact and courtesy in field inspection work; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to remain calm, objective, and impartial under stressful conditions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, contractors, and the general public. Competent use of laptop, word processing and inspection software; motor vehicle; portable radio; phone; ladder or scaffolding; tape measure; level, hand tools and reference codes. Work is performed mostly in field settings. Considerable outdoor work is required in the inspection of various land use developments, constructionsites, or public works facilities. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate testing instruments, tools, computers, and various pieces of office equipment. The duties of this job occasionally require the employee to climb, kneel andlift up to 50 pounds. Must have a high school diploma; some college is highly desirable. Must have a valid Driver License. Must successfully complete standard background investigation.
