Xavier University of Louisiana invites applications for a post-baccalaureate Research Technician. Primary responsibility will be to complete research experiments involving protein expression and purification, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, and/or cell culture. Additional responsibilities include maintaining laboratory stocks, assisting undergraduate research students with basic procedures, and assisting with daily management of routine laboratory work. This is a grant-funded position for a recent B.S. graduate seeking entry-level research experience for a period of 6-18 months. AA/ EOE Minimum Qualifications

B.S. in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a closely related area. Undergraduate or post-baccalaureate research experience in some area of biochemistry or molecular biology. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with one or more of: protein expression and purification, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, or tissue culture. Demonstrated interest in pursuing research as a career and/or in pursuing an advanced degree in the sciences. Special Requirements Summary

Funding for this position is contingent on the successful applicant being a trainee with a recent bachelor’s degree (awarded no more than 5 years prior to the start date) and who has not yet pursued a graduate degree program. Individuals already possessing any advanced degree in science, engineering, or mathematics will not be considered. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident. Work Hours

Full-time, approximately 9-5 Mon-Fri. Specific work periods negotiable. Experimental requirements may occasionally impose specific day and hour requirements outside of a standard workday. KSA's

Knowledge, Education, Experience, and Proficiencies: B.S. in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a closely related area is required. Undergraduate or post-baccalaureate research experience in some area of biochemistry or molecular biology is required. Must have good English written and oral communication skills.
