Required: Current Minnesota Physical Therapist license Preferred: Previous related experience Responsibilities
Provides physical therapy services for children receiving special education services throughout the District. Assesses, plans, organizes, and participates in educationally based programs that provide students with optimal educational opportunities, including opportunities in functional positioning, movement, mobility, etc. Responsible for goals on Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children from birth - 22 years old, including collaboratively determining the need for physical therapy as a related service or reasonable accommodation. Evaluates students and writes reports regarding the evaluation. Assesses aspects of a child\'s physical capability (flexibility, strength, endurance, gross motor functions) related to mobility and movement activities in an educational setting. Provides physical therapy training and consultations to school staff and families. Assists families, children, staff, and related services providers to use appropriate and safe methods to meet a child\'s mobility needs; manages educational equipment needs (assessment, provision, instruction, monitoring, adjusting, repairing). Assists families in acquiring equipment for home use. Uses adaptive equipment and trains others in its use. Assists schools in developing emergency procedures and evacuation plans; evaluates accessibility issues (e.g., bathroom accessibility). Creates and maintains required documentation of physical therapy services, including contact notes. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements
Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, seeing; significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing. Benefits
