Infection Preventionist (IP)

is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) for the organization, with a focus on Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) services. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the ICF Center Medical Director, the IP ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role is essential in supporting the health and safety of individuals with developmental disabilities and medically complex conditions, including immunocompromised and respiratory-vulnerable populations. Opening Infection Preventionist (IP) Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday to Friday Location: Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities, Mantua, OH. May require occasional travel within and outside of Ohio. Responsibilities

Infection Prevention & Surveillance Chair the ICF Infection Prevention and Control Committee; serve on additional committees as needed. Develop and manage IPC policies, procedures, and manuals in line with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and ODH guidelines. Lead structured surveillance systems and report on healthcare-associated and community-acquired infections. Monitor and investigate trends; implement corrective and containment actions. Oversee antimicrobial stewardship efforts. Education & Training Provide staff, resident, and family training on infection control practices (e.g., PPE, hand hygiene, transmission precautions). Maintain training records for compliance and audit purposes. Risk Assessment & Compliance Conduct routine risk assessments and environmental rounds. Ensure regulatory compliance during inspections and audits. Declare and document unit/home isolations in consultation with medical staff. Complete Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) for renovation projects. Collaborate on water management planning (e.g., Legionella mitigation). Resident-Centered Approach Customize infection prevention strategies to meet the behavioral and physical needs of individuals with IDD. Promote person-centered and minimally restrictive practices. Emergency Preparedness Lead infection-related emergency planning (e.g., pandemics, outbreaks). Participate in local healthcare coalitions for access to community infectious disease resources. Regulatory Oversight Programs Manage the organizational Respiratory Protection Program per OSHA standards. Oversee the ICF TB testing and assessment program. Administer annual flu vaccination program, including new-hire clinics. Ongoing Collaboration Routinely consult with the ICF Center Medical Director for strategic guidance and clinical oversight. Minimum Qualifications

Post-secondary degree in a health-related field (e.g., nursing, public health, lab technology, biology). Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or Long-Term Care Certification in Infection Prevention (LTC-CIP). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to travel within Ohio. Ability to read, write, and comprehend English proficiently. Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in long-term care or services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and infection tracking tools. Familiarity with trauma-informed care and behavioral health. Previous nursing or bedside clinical experience.
