San Angelo Responsibilities

The Behavioral Health Assistant works with the Behavioral Health Department to support learning of practical, functional, and meaningful skills and to decrease challenging behavior. Duties include: Assisting behavioral health specialists and behavior analysts in developing Skills Acquisition Plans (SAPs) and/or Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs); Taking, entering, monitoring, and reporting data; completing various assessments deemed necessary by the Behavior Health Specialist or Behavior Analyst; Training direct care staff, assisting in creation or implementation of PBSPs and/or SAPs, providing special treatment and/or training sessions; Substituting for other behavioral health staff at assigned meetings; other duties deemed necessary by the supervisor for behavioral health and skill acquisition programming; Working under moderate supervision with a flexible schedule; overtime may be required. Essential Job Functions (EJFs) include regular attendance, potential for rotating or extended schedules, and other duties as assigned. Additional duties involve collaboration with IDT, data collection and reporting, administering assessments, training staff, and participating in disaster response/COOP as needed. Behavioral analysis theories, practice, and regulatory guidelines related to intellectual disabilities. Behavioral principles and research methodology; Positive behavioral supports. Implement educational and behavioral treatment and therapy; work with interdisciplinary teams; train staff; communicate effectively in oral and written form. Use computers and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access) and electronic health data systems like CareTracker and IRIS; assist or administer assessments; become certified as a Ukeru instructor if needed. Skills To

Observe and document challenging behaviors and skills acquisition; model and supervise proper plan implementation; coach staff; document data accurately; manage data entry in electronic records and Excel. Qualifications

Initial Screening Criteria:

Experience in psychological work. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in psychology or a related field is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. Experience Teaching, Training Or Coaching Others:
