Senior Respiratory Care Practitioner RRT - Cottonwood
The Multi-Modality Respiratory Care Practitioner role applies fundamental techniques of respiratory therapy to patients in a variety of health care settings. Able to perform basic respiratory care procedures on newborns, pediatrics and adults. Respiratory Care Practitioner CRT assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients who have pulmonary disorders such as asthma, COPD, collapsed lungs, and pneumonia. May collect blood samples, conduct tests, measure lung capacities and determine the levels of gases within patients' lungs. Respiratory Care Practitioner RRT treats patients with pulmonary disorders such as asthma, COPD, collapsed lungs, and pneumonia. The RRT meets with patients, diagnoses ailments, designs treatment plans and conducts tests to assess lung capacity and gas levels. Senior Respiratory Care Practitioner treats patients with pulmonary disorders and designs treatment plans and conducts tests to assess lung capacity and gas levels. The Senior Respiratory Care Practitioner will have at least one specialty credential such as Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS), RPFT, or Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS).
Responsibilities
Patient Care: Performs ABG punctures according to NAH Policy; records patient vital signs including breath sounds, ventilator status, mental status, and response to treatment; identifies patient and verifies orders before administration of any treatment or respiratory care; sets ventilator parameters according to established patient protocol and doctors’ orders; places E.T. tube properly, minimizing facial, oral, and tracheal trauma. Equipment Care
Assembles and disassembles, operates and maintains, troubleshoots, cleans, and performs minor repairs on equipment. Educates patients on therapy and prescribed medications prior to discharge and documents patient understanding. Administrative
Completes all billing paperwork; demonstrates timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, EMR entries, and patient responses. Compliance/Safety
Reports safety incidents timely through the Midas/RDE tool; attends safety training; works safely; monitors for safety issues and ensures others perform safely; adheres to regulatory and organizational standards; maintains up-to-date certifications and licenses; complies with state and federal regulations and company policies; completes mandatory training in the specified time frame. Education Respiratory Care Practitioner- CRT: Associate’s Degree from an AMA approved school of Respiratory Therapy – Preferred Respiratory Care Practitioner- RRT: Associate’s Degree from an AMA Respiratory Therapy Program – Required Respiratory Care Practitioner- Senior: Associate’s Degree from an AMA Respiratory Therapy Program – Required Certification & Licensures CRT: Licensed by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners – Required; NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) – Required; BLS, ACLS, PALS – Required; NRP – Required within 90 days of hire or when caring for neonatal patients RRT: Licensed by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners – Required; NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Required; BLS, ACLS, PALS – Required; NRP – Required within 90 days of hire or when caring for neonatal patients Senior: Licensed by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners – Required; NBRC RRT – Required; One specialty credential (ACCS, RPFT, NPS, Certified Asthma, Pulmonary Disease Educator Certification, or AHA Certified Instructor) – Required; BLS, ACLS, PALS – Required; NRP – Required within 90 days of hire or when caring for neonatal patients Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies as assigned by departmental leadership.
