Qualifications
Graduate of an American Physical Therapy Association approved physical therapy program.
Current license to practice physical therapy in Texas.
Current drivers license with current automobile insurance.
Job Functions
Conduct patient's assessments and assist the physician in evaluating the level of function by applying diagnostic and prognostic functional ability tests.
Assist in the development and direction of the Plan of Care.
Direct and aid patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, and prosthetic training.
Treat patients to relieve pain; develop and restore function; maintain maximum function using exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity.
Make use of ultraviolet and infrared lamps, diathermy, ultrasound, whirlpool, contract baths, and apply moist packs.
Observe, record, and report to the physician the patient's response to treatment and changes in the patient's condition.
Instruct patients, significant others, and staff in the care and use of wheelchairs, prosthetic, and orthopedic devices; and in areas of physical therapy in which they can assist the patient.
Visit patients according to Plan of Treatment; complete a progress note for each visit; and submit progress notes to the agency at least weekly.
Participate in staff conferences and committees as necessary.
Attend all required education and in-services.
Prepare a written discharge summary and summary report of patient condition at least every 60 days.
Relationships
Supervised by Director of Nurses and/or Alternate Director of Nurses.
Supervises: other Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants.
