NVA General Practice . An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Each NVA hospital is unique, but all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners. Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing medical cases. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Most externships at

last from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. These externships are designed for clinical-year veterinary students. Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click
