Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Sr Environmental Specialist to support our Houston facility. The individual will work closely with the site Environment Engineer to accomplish Environment goals and training. The Sr. Environmental Specialist primary duties are managing site’s solid waste and supporting the QC lab operations. Responsible for implementing, coordinating, and maintaining the Houston plant safety, quality and environmental programs and activities to ensure compliance with all Local, State, and Federal laws, regulations and corporate standards. Participates in other plant activities as needed to improve performance in areas of safety, environmental, reliability, process incident elimination, cost control, and related areas. Responsibilities

Manage site’s solid waste and support the QC lab operations. Comply with all AIMS HESQ policies & practices including ISO-9001, ISO 14001, and RCMS. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, such as OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, DOT, etc. Conduct daily checks of environmental equipment and areas, including hazardous storage areas, dikes, tanks, waste storage areas, digester, and storm water discharge. Responsible for hazardous and nonhazardous waste management, including labeling waste, sampling waste for profiling, moving/handling of waste containers, and obtaining competitive bids on waste disposal. Maintain annual waste summary and coordinate schedules for audits in environmental related areas. Perform routine environmental audits to assure compliance and prepare and submit Storm water reports. Conduct quarterly wastewater sampling and submit associated reporting. Complete and submit reporting for drinking water, wastewater, and TIER II in a timely manner. Review and submit all applicable ENV. permits to the correct agency/department within the permit renewal guidelines. Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Engineering, Chemistry, or other related technical field. OR Associate’s Degree or relevant certifications may be considered with demonstrated knowledge and years of service taken into account. Minimum 7+ years of experience in day-to-day involvement in HES activities and handling hazardous & non-hazardous waste. Basic knowledge of state and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations required. Possess class D license for potable water operator or ability to obtain one. Certified forklift operator.
