PADCOM Design and Construction Management provides the following pay range for this position:
$130,000.00/yr - $147,000.00/yr .
Position Summary The Construction Inspector supports the Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division, ensuring that terminal and building construction projects meet LA City Building Code, ADA requirements, and LAWA’s proprietary standards. The role involves reviewing blueprints, shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and preparing detailed daily inspection reports.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive daily inspections across building and terminal construction projects.
Verify contractor compliance with local jurisdictional requirements, building codes, and LAWA standards.
Review and interpret construction documents, including blueprints, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and submittals.
Prepare complete daily inspection reports, documenting activity details.
Identify issues, deficiencies, or safety concerns and report them promptly.
Support special inspections and testing, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third‑party agencies.
Track and document time‑and‑material work, field changes, and job quantities.
Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on the approved schedule of values.
Prepare monthly progress payment requests and maintain documentation for time and material verification.
Types of Inspections
Clearing, grubbing, and demolition of building structures.
Excavation, trenching, and shoring.
Grade and elevation surveys.
Structural backfill and compaction for underground utilities.
Structural and non‑structural concrete work.
Formwork, footings, and micropiles.
Sewer and storm drain inspection.
Metal stud framing, drywall installation, and interior finishes.
Door and hardware installations.
T‑bar ceilings, hard‑lids, and fire‑rated components.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum five years of experience performing construction inspections.
Clear understanding and interpretation of LA City Building Code and ADA requirements.
Must pass a background check and obtain an LAWA SIDA badge before starting.
Ability to walk long distances across terminals during shifts.
Ability to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and enter confined areas related to ongoing work.
Must be available for day, swing, modified, or night shifts, including weekends as required by contractor schedules.
Required Training and Certifications
Training in fall protection equipment and harness with lanyard.
Confined space awareness certification.
Cal OSHA 30‑hour training and certification.
NFPA 70E certification (for electrical inspectors).
Preferred Qualifications
ICC certifications and Deputy Inspector licenses preferred.
Experience inspecting large‑scale airport or public building construction, including steel, concrete, and architectural finishes.
Strong knowledge of LA City Building Codes and ADA compliance.
Proven ability to identify and address construction deficiencies and ensure adherence to standards.
Excellent communication, organization, and time‑management skills.
Technical Skills
Proficiency with inspection and document control tools such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PM Web, Adobe Pro, and Bluebeam.
Ability to efficiently use digital tools to review contract documents, change orders, RFIs, and submittals with minimal supervision.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Must be available to work various shifts and modified schedules, including nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by project needs.
