Responsibilities
Perform routine, emergency and preventative maintenance on material handling equipment (PIV) including turret trucks, order pickers, reach trucks, sit‑down forklift, power walkies and stacker lifts.
Assist and perform in‑service inspections and setup for newly acquired Powered Industrial Equipment.
Perform servicing, inspections and repairs of batteries and battery chargers for PIT.
Read and interpret manufacturer’s service manuals to perform maintenance and repairs; contact dealers and manufacturers for technical assistance.
Maintain certification to operate all material handling equipment.
Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities; record routine, emergency and preventative maintenance into CMMS.
Order and procure parts for all necessary repairs and restocking of inventory; submit and approve purchase orders.
Identify and submit suggestions to improve efficiencies, quality and safety.
Participate in root cause analysis and other plant continuous improvement initiatives; recommend and assist with implementing improvement ideas.
Comply with safety and GMP requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
Prior experience operating equipment, up to and including swing reach trucks.
General knowledge of electric and machine shop required.
Food or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
Proven ability through certification to operate and repair all plant (PIT) vehicles and accurately complete paperwork and maintain maintenance records.
Good knowledge of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic skills necessary to operate, troubleshoot and repair powered industrial vehicles.
Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills; good time management and ability to prioritize and multitask.
Strong teamwork skills, effective communication, strong attention to detail.
Basic computer (Word, Excel) and data entry skills required.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
Safety Responsibility Statement Supports a culture of safe production and exhibits safe work practices. Actively participates in the safety program, engages in safety activities, provides constructive peer‑to‑peer feedback on safety performance, adheres to policies, procedures, SOPs, safe work practices, and safety policies and procedures. Reports ALL workplace incidents to supervisor immediately. Communicates concerns to supervisor, reports hazards, and provides input on prevention. Properly wears and stores PPE when required. Participates on safety teams and/or completes safety‑related activities as part of regular job responsibilities.
Physical Demands The employee must regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, ascend/descend stairs and ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; handle objects up to 60 lbs.; move and lift objects as described.
Work Environment Workplace involves moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes, heat/cold, moderate noise; exposure to ingredients, powders, liquids; direct exposure to packaging equipment and machinery.
