Position Description We are immediately hiring a permanent, full‑time, experienced mid‑level diesel technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Pay & Bonuses

Hourly Pay:

$26.00 per hour

Certification Bonus:

$100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700

Quarterly Bonus:

up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)

Sign‑On Bonus:

$1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days

Schedule & Hours

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, weekends off

Hours:

Second shift 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree, or technical certifications (preferred)

Basic tools required

Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work

Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred)

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)

Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification) for the last 3 years

Ability to drive Ryder vehicles as required for the position

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties

Conduct standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and repairs

Execute preventive maintenance procedures

Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable

Identify root causes of basic failures or conditions and perform required repairs

Replace defective components as instructed

Perform facility maintenance duties

Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task

Use shop management systems and electronic documentation tools

Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)

Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support
