The Manager of Repair leads and transforms repair operations for fiber system and paper machine equipment, driving business growth, operational excellence, and automation. This role acts as a change agent, championing innovation, process improvement, and digital transformation to enhance efficiency, quality, and profitability across Voith’s repair facilities and customer sites.

Responsibilities

Communicate vision and goals clearly to shopfloor teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives and change initiatives

Lead and develop shopfloor teams, promoting accountability, adaptability, and engagement

Recognize achievements, foster skill development, and address performance issues constructively

Empower staff to adopt new technologies and drive continuous improvement

Ensure all activities comply with OSHA, company policies, and environmental standards, integrating automated safety and compliance monitoring where feasible

Collaborate with quality assurance to uphold product quality and compliance, utilizing automated inspection and monitoring systems

Troubleshoot equipment issues, delivery, warranty, inspection reports, and coordinate onsite repair personnel as needed

Review costs and processes with shopfloor personnel and general manufacturing to drive efficiency and ensure departments meet required KPIs (On‑Time Turnaround Rate, Gross Margin)

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Sales, Product Support, Mill/Field Service, Customers) to solve issues and keep jobs moving through the shop

Identify, evaluate, and implement automation solutions (robotics, digital tools, data analytics) to streamline repair workflows and reduce manual intervention

Drive significant growth of the repair business by expanding capabilities, offerings, and facilities

Ability to travel up to 35%

Requirements

Managerial and leadership experience, with a track record of driving business growth and operational excellence

Proven experience as a change agent, leading teams through operational and technological transformation

Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and data‑driven decision‑making skill

Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work cross‑functionally and with customer

Education and Experience

Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree preferred, experience in the paper industry highly valued

Knowledge of mill equipment, repair processes, and quality assurance preferred

Background in automation, robotics, and digitalization in manufacturing or repair environments preferred

Physical Requirements

Frequent talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling/squatting, keyboard

Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs, climbing, reaching, rotation/twist

Occasional exposure to noise up to 100 dBA.
