HDR Engineering has an opportunity for a mid-level Project Engineer to become part of a team of professionals in planning and designing highway and roadway projects in our growing Transportation Group in Coeur d’Alene, ID. The candidate will apply a diversified knowledge of transportation engineering and design principles to a range of projects both locally in Idaho and in support of other HDR offices throughout the country. The successful candidate will proactively assist guiding and managing in-house design teams of technical staff to produce high quality work while meeting budget and schedule. Other responsibilities include performing design checks for compliance with design standards, task management, and assist with development of scopes of work and fee estimates. The successful candidate must demonstrate effective communication skills to lead or work cooperatively with staff located in multiple offices and have a vested interest in mentoring younger staff.
Responsibilities
Proactively assist guiding and managing in-house design teams of technical staff to produce high quality work while meeting budget and schedule.
Perform design checks for compliance with design standards and assist with development of scopes of work and fee estimates.
Lead or work cooperatively with staff located in multiple offices and mentor younger staff.
Preferred Qualifications
Exhibits excellent communication, written, and organizational skills.
Experience with Federal-aid projects.
Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment, believes in providing high quality work and outstanding client service.
Enjoys mentoring and teaching other staff.
Willing to lead in a team environment.
Comfortable with minimal oversight in performing tasks.
Passionate about the engineering profession and improving our communities through project and community service activities.
Experience working on projects with ITD, LHTAC, and/or Highway Districts and Cities throughout Idaho.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Hands-on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
MS Office knowledge
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans
