It has a capacity of 1,080 megawatts and operates three Siemens 501G combustion turbine generators fueled by natural gas combined-cycle technology, ensuring efficient and reliable power generation for the region. Opportunity Summary
The Lead O&M Technician provides oversight and functional direction to plant personnel, ensuring safe and efficient operation of all plant systems, including startup and shutdown of main equipment and auxiliaries. Responsibilities include preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, inspections and operational tests, managing consumables, maintaining logs, and ensuring procedural compliance across all operations. The Lead O&M Technician also supports training and development of O&M staff, communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, serves as site representative after hours, and performs additional duties to maintain operational excellence. Primary Responsibilities
Oversight, supervision, and safety: provides functional direction to plant O&M personnel regarding startup and shutdown of main plant equipment and auxiliaries; serves as lead system representative on assigned systems; operates under general direction with established procedures; makes decisions within operating guidelines; ensures safe plant operations and environmental permit compliance; conducts routine plant tours and ensures safety procedures are observed; enforces lock-out/tag-out procedures. Operations, maintenance, and procedures: plans and performs routine preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance; conducts electrical and mechanical inspections, troubleshooting, and tests; monitors chemistry and consumables, tracks inventories, and initiates replenishment; investigates problems and prepares analyses and follow-up plans; maintains logs and records; develops and revises operating procedures; plans daily operations schedule. Training, communication, and additional duties: assists in orientation and development of new O&M Technicians; prepares training materials and assessments; communicates with on-site and remote personnel; represents the company after hours; communicates equipment condition and performance; conducts bulk chemical offloads as required; ensures work meets customer needs and supports plant departments. Qualifications and Skills
Education: High School or better; preferred Associate degree in Power Plant Technology or related field; experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. Experience: Five (5) years of power plant operations and/or maintenance experience; experience with gas turbine combined-cycle operations preferred. Technical knowledge: mechanical and electrical equipment, including motors, pumps, boilers, fluid systems, chemical handling, water treatment, pollution control equipment, AC/DC distribution and control systems; ability to troubleshoot, maintain, install, and modify equipment. Water treatment and chemistry: understanding of water treatment processes and chemistry applications in a power plant. Safety: knowledge of power plant safety policies and procedures for high-energy systems, chemical handling, heavy equipment, confined spaces, and first aid. Technical comprehension: ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings (blueprints, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, schematics) and apply information to troubleshooting; operate analytical and test equipment. Communication and leadership: strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to coordinate with vendors and contractors; demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills; valid U.S. driver’s license in good standing.
