Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Shafter, California.
Pay & Schedule
Hourly Pay: $45.00 per hour
Certification Bonus: $100 per new ASE certification, up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter
Reefer experience required
Schedule: Sunday–Thursday
Hours: First Shift 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Vocational or Technical Certification, post‑secondary, or Technical Certifications (preferred)
Basic tools required
Demonstrated experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and advanced repairs
Four (4) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
All other certifications as required by location (required)
Ability to perform T3 tasks
Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Availability for shift work, weekends, and on‑call duty as required
Preferred ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, Electronics or ASE Master Mechanic
Proficiency in shop computers and diagnostic test equipment
Minimum tool requirement
Ability to road test vehicles as necessary
Ability to coach/mentor/influence others
Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check
Responsibilities
Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)
Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
Complete instructor‑led OEM courses as required
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs with minimal support
Use internal and external maintenance documents
Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support using diagnostic computers/software
Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers for roadside breakdowns
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints
Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics
Coach/mentor other level technicians
Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs
Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
Perform other support duties as required (e.g., Service Island support)
