Civil Engineer - Public Works (Eng IV)
with at least five years of experience and a registered Professional Engineer for Huitt-Zollars, Inc. in the Phoenix office. This role will include Civil Engineering work in the Public Works Practice Area and will provide leadership, guide business development and project management on local Phoenix projects (and beyond as needed). Duties
Serve as Civil Engineer in the development of design schematics, construction plans, specifications and estimates Coordinate with EITs, designers and drafters Review shop drawings, perform field observations, and facilitate the construction administration Support project proposals, scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects Complete projects within client specifications, budgets and schedules Coordinate online meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, and distribution of meeting information Work on all types of projects with a focus on Public Works projects, including design development from concept through construction documents Site development includes grading, floodplain mitigation, drainage, drainage detention, paving and utilities; coordinate with disciplines within HZI and with sub-consultants (Architecture, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, etc.) through the design phase Coordinate with and provide direction to engineers-in-training, CADD technicians, and project support staff to prepare project documents for permitting and bidding Provide construction administration support (submittal reviews, RFIs, review of contractor invoices, participate in progress meetings, occasional site visits) Support development of scopes of work, labor hour estimates, and project scheduling for new projects; communicate with clients as directed

Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars\'s business process Collaborates with PMs and encourages team success and camaraderie Follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives; assist PM to ensure quality control on projects and daily operations Maintains required job knowledge and technical skills Assists with administrative and project support tasks for assigned projects Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects Completes assignments on time, within budget, and with high quality Proposes and implements more effective ways to accomplish tasks Assists PM on work planning and ensures appropriate staff is assigned Assists PMs with reviewing project reports and metrics to track progress and budget; helps lead projects to profit, on-schedule delivery, quality, and client satisfaction
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) 5+ years of civil engineering design experience in Public Works Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) Proficient in surface water hydrology and hydraulic programs, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel and Word Ability to work independently in a team environment and manage multiple projects with limited supervision Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to present in meetings Ability to design printed and digital engineering documents Ability to write clearly to communicate technical issues and design ideas
