Position Mechanic
Reports To Mechanic Shift Supervisor
Mission of this Position Work side by side with A&P mechanics and supervisors to inspect, test, repair, maintain, and service aircraft and aircraft systems following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to perform tasks safely, accurately, and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Meet or exceed duties/expectations and FAA regulations while displaying initiative, adhering to Tropic Ocean Airways (TOA) SOPs, and aligning with core values.
Work under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance (DOM) and Assistant Director of Maintenance (ADOM) to ensure aircraft are prepared to operate safely per regulation.
Participate in internal communication regarding equipment, scheduling, and paperwork.
Prioritize safety by observing protocols, reporting issues, and suggesting improvements.
Inspect engine and components for cracks, leaks, or damage.
Disassemble and inspect parts for wear or defects.
Assemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components using hand and power tools.
Adjust, align, and calibrate aircraft systems with appropriate tools and test equipment.
Service aircraft systems, including checking oil levels, fueling, greasing, tire, and brake checks.
Perform scheduled inspections and other duties such as inventory control.
Essential Skills
FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license
Experience in civil or military aviation maintenance
Attention to detail and time management skills
Effective communication skills
Adherence to safety and SOP standards
Integrity and respect for teammates
Experience with modern avionics (e.g., Garmin G1000, Collins Pro Line 21) is a plus
Experience with Cessna Caravan (C208) or Pratt & Whitney PT6A engines is a plus
