Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer based in Wendell, NC for a large manufacturing client. The Mechanical Engineer will join our Medium Voltage Switchgear team (covering both Gas-Insulated and Air-Insulated technologies). This role focuses on the SieBreak™ and 8DJH36 product lines, supporting design, documentation, and manufacturing in Wendell, NC. Compensation
Base pay range : $72,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr Title : Mechanical Engineer Pay range : 72-140K Responsibilities
Serve as Mechanical Engineering point of contact for Siemens MV switchgear product SIEBREAK™, SIEBREAK VCB™, and 8DJH36 gear Perform design and documentation tasks across three categories: “Design & Documentation”, “Collaboration”, and “Support and Quality” Independently create all documents for customer approval and manufacturing of Medium Voltage switchgear per design specifications using engineering design and configurator software; typical documents include: Customer Specification Alignment 3D Models for Factory Fabrication General Arrangement Side Views Bill of Materials Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the project lifecycle, including Application Engineers, Project Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers Function as a quality gate prior to release of drawings/documentation to customer and factory (assembly drawings, detailed drawings, manufacturing sketches, layouts, inspection data and BOM) Own the overall deliverables from a mechanical standpoint, including design, drafting, and customer/factory deliverables Provide factory support during manufacturing to ensure quality requirements are met; provide technical support or clarifications to customers during FAT Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a combination of education and experience 1+ years of proven experience in engineering or drafting of electrical power distribution products and systems; preference for switchgear Experience with 3D models Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD; ability to travel internationally; trips to Germany may be required Nice to Have Skills & Experience
At least 1-2 years in a complex made-to-order manufacturing environment Demonstrated proficiency with SAP or similar MRP/ERP systems Demonstrated proficiency with complex engineering BoMs ("Bill of Materials"); familiarity with mechanical assemblies including Galvanized Steel, Copper Bus, Welded Assemblies, Bus Supports, and Sheet Metal Compensation Details
$72,000 to $140,000 per year
