Position Value Proposition Working for a world class leader in pressure vessel fabrication, at Aitken Manufacturing Inc. The Pipe Fitter brings their expertise and knowledge in fabrication to build some of the most complex and high‑profile projects in the Oil & Gas, Energy, Chemical, & Processing industrial segments. This position assembles and fits drawing dimensions of the various structural, plate, and mechanical materials. The production fitter utilizes a high degree of proficiency while using full skills of the trade including knowledge of blueprints and common heat reactions of structural metals. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily.

Core Responsibilities

Consults blueprints, work orders or instructions, creates working procedure based on specifications.

Gathers equipment and materials for the job.

Cutting and fit pipe and pipe fittings.

Grinding & Beveling pipe.

Layout, cutting, assembling pipe and pipe fittings.

Fabricate socket weld connections, stainless steel pipe/pipe fittings, carbon steel pipe/pipe fittings.

Clean work area and performs other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.

Complies with applicable safety codes, regulations, and best practices.

Additional responsibilities not listed may be required.

Equipment Knowledge & Skills

Ability to use a variety of tools which may include torches, saws, plasma machines, and welding equipment.

Ability to use overhead and jib cranes.

Ability to read prints and GA drawings.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide across all units of measurement.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education / Training - Work Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and/or 12 months of stable work experience.

Specialized Knowledge, Certificates & Licenses Any special training certificates, licenses or diplomas are a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Position requires as many hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions. Working long days including evenings and weekends may be required.
