Job Summary:
This is an entry‑level maintenance mechanic position. Responsibilities include learning proper troubleshooting and repairing of equipment associated in production, maintaining building support equipment (air, water, steam, hydraulic, refrigeration, electric systems) under supervision.
Job Responsibilities:
Properly troubleshoot and repair all equipment associated with the production facility in a timely manner with supervision.
Perform preventative maintenance on all production and warehouse equipment.
Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, welding and plumbing duties as required.
Rebuild/replace equipment as needed (pumps, gear boxes, bearings, bushings, chains, bundler headers, conveyors, etc.).
Complete assigned work orders by their required due dates.
Complete assigned housekeeping duties as required.
Communicate to Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager any condition that prevents the manufacture of product to established standards.
Work in a safe manner, in compliance with company, state and federal GMPs, SOPs and company policy and procedures.
Ability to work overtime, including weekends, holidays and emergencies as needed.
Possess own basic hand tools necessary to perform the position requirements.
Work effectively as part of a team and display a positive attitude.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Must take an in‑house mechanical aptitude test.
Basic math and reading skills.
Ability to work independently or in a group/team atmosphere.
Good organizational and time‑management skills.
High school or trade school diploma or equivalent experience.
Other Information/Physical Requirements:
Communication: Requires ability to talk and hear, read small print.
Dexterity: Ability to use hand and fingers to perform tasks, including lying on back/side, using knees, cramped spaces.
Standing: Long periods (4–6 hrs).
Sitting: Infrequently.
Walking: Occasionally for short periods.
Climbing: Work must be performed while standing on ladders, frequently.
Squatting/Crouching: Frequently.
Use of hands/wrists/arms, twisting of wrists: Frequently.
Lifting: Light ( 30 lbs.).
Carrying: Light (30–50 lbs.) frequently over 30 yards.
Pushing/Pulling: Under 75 lbs. without assistance frequently; over 75 lbs. with assistance occasionally.
Temperature tolerance: 100 °F to –40 °F for varied periods of time.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing environment with moving parts; high noise levels.
Outdoor temperature ranges from 95 °F and higher to –5 °F and lower.
Indoor temperature ranges from 80 °F and higher to –30 °F and lower.
Wet, damp and icy conditions.
Chemical hazards including cleaning and refrigeration chemicals.
Safety Responsibilities:
Work in a safe and responsible manner at all times, following all safety policies, procedures and rules.
Report unsafe observations or conditions to a supervisor or manager.
Immediately report an injury or accident to a supervisor or manager.
Meet all company requirements for training (Log Out/Tag Out, confined space, electrical safety, Hazmat technician, hot work, ladder, fall protection, fire safety, etc.).
SQF Requirements/Responsibilities:
Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner following prescribed procedures.
Report food safety problems to a supervisor or manager.
Maintain the preventative maintenance program.
The pay range for this position is $27.01–$29.41 USD. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.
