HVAC Service Technician Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Service Technician with 5+ years of experience in commercial and industrial HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing large rooftop units, air-cooled chillers, and advanced control systems. This role requires proficiency in both electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to independently handle service calls for high-tonnage HVAC systems. Key Responsibilities:

System Knowledge & Diagnostics:

Expertise in refrigeration cycles, airflow dynamics, and HVAC system efficiency.

Experience with systems such as rooftop units (10-20 tons), air-cooled chillers, VRF/VRV systems, cooling towers, and pumps.

Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, including compressors, gas heat exchangers, TXVs, economizers, and VFDs.

Utilize advanced diagnostic tools like digital multimeters, manometers, and refrigerant analyzers.

Repairs & Maintenance:

Independently diagnose and repair HVAC issues such as refrigerant leaks, compressor failures, and control system problems.

Perform leak detection, refrigerant recovery, and recharge systems in line with EPA 608 standards.

Conduct system optimization by adjusting superheats, subcooling, and refrigerant charge, ensuring efficient system performance.

Customer Interaction & Documentation:

Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to customers, providing recommendations for system upgrades or replacements.

Thoroughly document all service work, including repairs, maintenance performed, and future recommendations.

Upsell service agreements and additional services when appropriate.

Safety & Compliance:

Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and refrigerant handling.

Maintain knowledge of HVAC regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and ASHRAE standards.

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience with commercial HVAC systems.

EPA 608 Certification required.

Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with diagnostic tools.

Familiarity with advanced HVAC systems like air-cooled chillers, VFDs, and cooling towers.
