We have a great opportunity for a Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Knoxville, TN office and be part of the Geotechnics Group for the region.
As a Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll follow projects from concept through construction on highways, rail, water, environmental, ports, and advanced facilities sectors.
Responsibilities
Lead geotechnical aspects associated with the design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, and slope stabilizing measures.
Coordinate and generate geotechnical-based specifications, and prepare data, baseline, and interpretative reports.
Follow projects from concept through construction on highways, rail, water, environmental, ports, and advanced facilities sectors.
Visit and safely navigate construction and project sites, complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
Qualifications
BS in Civil or Geological Engineering.
10-15 years of geotechnical consulting experience.
Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Experience with TDOT projects and standards.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with exploration methods, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and laboratory testing of soil and rock.
Knowledge of design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankments and slopes, and slope improvement.
Preparation of technical reports, design drawings, and specifications.
Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
Familiarity with computer programs for geotechnical analyses such as SLIDE, SETTLE3D, LPILE, APILE, Shafts, FB Multipier, DeepEx, and GRLWEAP.
MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
