Job Description
Tradeco Construction is a medium‑sized construction staffing company that specializes in skilled trades, primarily the MEP trades. We do commercial/industrial work and collaborate with other trade contractors to complete projects. Position Commercial Journeyman Mechanical Pipe Insulators – Multiple openings in Oklahoma City.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, instructions, and other documentation or plans related to work activities.
Determine the amount and select required insulation material (sheet, tubular, or roll), such as fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, or urethane, based on the material’s ability to retain heat, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
Move materials and equipment to work locations and set up work sites.
Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement or asphalt mastic.
Fit insulation around obstructions and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required.
Install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage.
Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors.
Prepare surfaces for insulation application by brushing or spreading adhesives, cement, or asphalt, or by attaching metal pins to surfaces.
Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape, securing insulation to the structure with staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun.
Follow all hazardous waste handling guidelines and, if necessary, remove or seal off old asbestos insulation following safety procedures.
Maintain records, tools, and equipment, and perform various clean‑up and housekeeping activities.
Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Must have at least 4 (four) years of experience.
Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
Plan work and select proper tools.
Compare and evaluate the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
Work at heights without fear.
