Purpose of the Position An Electrician is responsible for inspecting, servicing and maintaining diesel locomotive electrical systems in a fast‑paced, safety‑oriented environment in compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined and excels at complex troubleshooting.
Position Accountabilities
Maintain, inspect, test and repair all systems on diesel locomotives
Electrical modifications and upgrades to locomotive systems
Diagnostic troubleshooting with onboard computer systems / laptops
Complete work in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings and service manuals
Other duties as required per collective agreement
Position Requirements
High school diploma or general equivalency
Valid driver’s license
Journeyman Electrician preferred; diesel electrical experience or electrical experience with other types of machinery / truck or automotive is considered
Ability to follow electrical schematics is a definite asset
Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions
Ability to pass the required written examinations, read and understand safety instructions, rules, regulations and other written or printed material in English
Dedication to safety and ability to complete work within guidelines / rules
