Mobile Diesel and Trailer Technician Level II

— performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light repairs, diagnostics, and related duties under supervision to develop advanced mechanical skills. Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel and gasoline engines, Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials, and related components. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems and equipment as listed above; service includes electrical, air conditioning, steering, and drivetrain components. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation. Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate/assess alternatives with sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory and operate company-issued service truck; perform periodic reconciliations. Maintain and operate the company service vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections. Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve issues, and meet expectations. Manage concurrent tasks with effective prioritization and time management. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as needed. Document work according to company standards; upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using company iOS devices and TRAIT application. Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner. Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule; maintain productivity within standard repair times. Obtain required parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary. Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals, retrieve purchase orders, and discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain the company-issued service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections. Requirements

High School Diploma/GED with 3 years' related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience; or 5 years' related experience. Possess and provide a set of hand tools necessary for job duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months. Must be able to pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical; position follows FMCSA regulations. Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; if four months or less remain, a DOT physical is required. Interstate operating authority requires candidates be at least 21 years of age; valid driver’s license required with ability to maintain Driver Qualification File. Safe driver requirements; valid state-of-residence driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain DQF. Certifications

ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC), and T8/608/609 certifications Skills & Abilities
