Job Description – Salary: 80k – 100k

Main Panel Upgrade Electrician

As a high-performing solar and electrical services provider, Better Earth depends on top-tier electricians to maintain the quality, safety, and efficiency of our residential service upgrades. The Main Panel Upgrade Electrician is responsible for executing main panel replacements, upgrades, and relocations whether overhead, underground, or on challenging installations.

This role requires strong technical knowledge, precision, and the ability to troubleshoot solar and electrical systems with confidence. The ideal candidate is experienced, detail-oriented, and a reliable team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer interaction skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Execute residential main panel upgrades from 100-400 amps to code and safety standards

Complete overhead, underground, and relocation installations without hesitation

Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and solar system issues efficiently

Collect data and photos throughout each project and submit detailed work orders

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work site at all times

Meet project timelines and stay within assigned budgets

Ensure all installations meet high standards of quality control and safety

Professionally communicate with customers and address questions or concerns on-site

Coordinate with utility companies and city inspectors for disconnects and reconnections

Tie in and commission solar systems accurately and efficiently

Review upcoming job photos and project plans ahead of scheduled installations

Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure materials are ready and accurate

Update the MPU team and Operations Manager with project status and documentation

Perform minor stucco and drywall repairs as needed post-installation

Bend and run conduit per NEC standards with proper technique

Install drates, subpanels, and other required components as needed

Requirements and Qualifications

Valid CA Journeyman Electrician License

Minimum of 1 year of residential electrical experience, including main panel upgrades

Strong understanding of NEC, electrical codes, and residential electrical systems

Familiarity with solar system tie-ins and commissioning

Capable of working independently and problem-solving in the field

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including conduit work and panel installations

Comfortable using technology for submitting work orders and project updates

Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation

Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional and respectful demeanor toward customers

Main Panel Upgrade Electrician Key Performance Indicators

Quality assurance audits on panel installations with >95% pass rate

Job completion timeframes and adherence to the schedule

Documentation accuracy (photos, work orders, inspection readiness)

Customer satisfaction scores and post-installation feedback

Zero safety violations or incidents

Reduction in missed materials or reschedules due to prep issues

Compliance with utility and AHJ coordination protocols

On-time communication with the MPU Team and Operations Manager
