Newman Tractor is a family-run heavy equipment sales, rentals & parts dealership. We serve the construction, utility, mining, energy, and agricultural industries and operate across 5 locations in KY, FL, and OH, with nationwide equipment rental. Responsibilities
Diagnostics and repairs: diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and motor graders; perform repairs, adjustments, and replacements; and use diagnostic tools, telematics data, and machine history to resolve issues efficiently. Preventative maintenance: conduct scheduled maintenance (fluid checks, oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication); inspect equipment for wear or potential failure points; ensure all safety systems operate correctly. Pre-work inspection and planning: review machine history in the ERP system; analyze telematics data; determine most likely failure; prepare for repairs by gathering parts/tools; perform safety checks. Documentation and reporting: accurately document diagnostics, repairs, parts usage, and labor times in the ERP system; maintain detailed maintenance records; generate reports on equipment condition and future service needs; ensure Four C’s (Complaint, Cause, Correction, Coverage) are reflected in service history. Safety and collaboration: follow company and industry safety standards; use PPE and maintain a clean, organized work area; collaborate with shop technicians and service managers to coordinate repairs and share knowledge. Qualifications
Technical expertise: strong knowledge of heavy equipment systems (diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, transmissions); proficiency with diagnostic tools and telematics platforms. Experience: minimum of 5 years in heavy equipment maintenance and repair. Skills: strong problem-solving and analytical abilities; excellent verbal and written communication; high attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Other requirements: ability to lift and handle parts/tools up to 50 pounds; manual dexterity; high school diploma or GED (technical school preferred); own tools required. Physical and environmental: work in a shop with loud noises, dust, and heavy equipment; perform physically demanding tasks (lifting, bending, standing). Benefits
