Mobile Diesel Technician Level II The Mobile Diesel Technician II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher, the technician can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs. Successful technicians comply with all company policies and meet high‑level performance metrics.

DUTIES

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‐duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.

Make minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.

Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment such as electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.

Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.

Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.

Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and generate solutions using sound judgment.

Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck; perform periodic reconciliation.

Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.

Work with and listen to clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems.

Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work, and allocate time efficiently.

Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.

Document work according to company standards; upload pictures, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using the company‑issued iOS device and the TRAIT application.

Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.

Work independently and manage own daily schedule.

Maintain high productivity and work within or close to standard repair times.

Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.

Communicate with management and support via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase order numbers, or RO findings.

Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).

Maintain the company‑issued service truck and conduct safety checks and daily inspections.

REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma/GED with at least 3 years of related experience (or a higher degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED with 5 years of experience).

Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.

Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.

Must complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.

Valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining or a DOT physical if less.

At least 21 years old and a valid state driver’s license with a Driver Qualification File.

Proficiency in basic mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostics.

Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.

COMPENSATION Hourly base pay rate is $26.06 – $39.13 per hour. The rate may vary based on location and candidate qualifications. Additional compensation may include commission or incentive programs.

PAID TIME OFF & HOLIDAYS

Minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off every month.

Seven paid holidays per calendar year.

Additional leave: bereavement, voting, jury duty, volunteer, military, and parental leave.
