Crane Aerospace & Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Development Assembler at our Danvers, MA location. Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. You’ll work with prime OEMs to develop state‑of‑the‑art solutions in a dynamic, family‑oriented environment. Job Summary

The Development Assembler performs a variety of assembly tasks in support of prototype production, research and development efforts. Items produced are used to prove out designs or to provide prototypes for customer inspection. The Development Assembler works under minimal supervision using processes that are typically not standardized and may include building an item from start to finish using a wide variety of assembly skills. Essential Functions

Prep and insert electronic components onto circuit boards, hand solder components onto circuit boards, touch up and rework circuit boards after flow solder operation, magnetics winding and component assembly, wire/cable harness assembly, make electronic connections from components to wires by crimping and soldering, bond components onto circuit boards, assemble and wire breadboards and build or modify electrical test equipment, modify or repair units as required Perform other non-fabrication type of activities including interpreting illustrations and oral engineering instructions, and recommending and recording new processes, parts lists, and tooling Work with preliminary drawings and parts lists, and frequently communicate with engineers to implement necessary changes to these documents Monitor the work performance within a work cell Read from schematics Follow and interpret verbal technical instructions from technicians and engineers Perform difficult assembly operations requiring substantial skill Participate in team meetings to promote improvement Suggest production process improvements using acquired knowledge Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary Any other task assigned by supervisor or management Non-Essential Functions

Assembly tasks include building holding apparatus (tooling jig), automated testing equipment (ATE) and manual test equipment Assist engineer to redline drawing for release Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years of electronics assembly experience preferably in a research and development setting Knowledge: Knowledge of assembly techniques and recommend process improvements Skills/Abilities: Experience with wire harness assembly and print/schematic reading; necessary communication skills to interact effectively with technicians, engineers, and other non-manufacturing personnel; ability to read process and assembly drawings, quality improvement process; ability to Crimp/Wire/Term Solder; ability to follow Repair/Rework Procedures Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent; Certificate in Soldering / Desoldering; Certificate in Circuit Board Modification Eligibility Requirement: This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government. Additionally, as a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
