Transportation Construction Inspector (Full-Time) – MBP (McDonough Bolyard Peck) Join to apply for the Transportation Construction Inspector (Full-Time) role at MBP (McDonough Bolyard Peck). Responsibilities

Provides on-site compliance inspection, quality assurance, and progress monitoring for conformance to plans, contracts, specifications, and codes applicable to the construction operations assigned. Communicates with and advises contractors of discrepancies and the necessary actions to conform to the plans and specifications. Maintains project records including daily diaries documenting work performed by construction contractors; reports may involve basic algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric calculations and associated sketches. Checks materials and material documents to verify they have been tested; when required, sends additional samples to the client or other testing laboratories for verification. Assists with review of payment applications, final inspections, and creation of punch lists. Communicates effectively and professionally with the client, contractor, traveling public, adjacent property owners, other project stakeholders, and MBP team members. Ensures highway work zones and traffic control are in compliance with current standards. Performs work of basic to moderate difficulty including materials testing and basic surveying. Performs various administrative duties, including daily timesheets, monthly expense reports, and monthly mileage reports. Stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions; safely navigate uneven terrain. Qualifications / Experience

Construction work experience with a basic understanding of construction means and methods for transportation projects, with a focus on VDOT or other DOT experience. Experience inspecting projects including roadway widening, intersection improvements, signalization, bridges, roadway maintenance, streetscape, utilities, and related activities. Must maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check, DMV driving record check, reference verification, and work history check. Education / Knowledge High school diploma or GED. Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire. Working knowledge of basic mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry based on field measurements. Construction-related training or experience in road/bridge construction, civil engineering, materials, and tools used in transportation projects. Certification(s) from VDOT (preferred) such as Intermediate Work Zone Protection, Asphalt Field Level I and II, Soils and Aggregate, Pavement Marking, Nuclear Gauge Safety, Guard Rail Inspector Training, ACI Concrete, and DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management. Other relevant certifications include WACEL, ICC, NICET, or MARTCP. Ability to utilize computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Email, Internet navigation, and web-based tools. Status
