Overview

Respiratory Equipment Tech - Per Diem at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute. The Respiratory Equipment Technician maintains, cleans and assembles equipment at the assigned Hackensack Meridian Health hospital. Orders supplies, manages cylinder inventory and services the central gas system. Requisition # 2025-172374 • Shift: Day • Status: Per Diem Responsibilities

Demonstrates knowledge of the use of respiratory therapy equipment and supplies required for respiratory therapy procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of the care, cleaning, disposition and storage of respiratory therapy equipment and supplies. Demonstrates knowledge of the management and security of stock medications. Documents all data in a consistent, comprehensive and legible manner (equipment logs, receivers, environment of care logs, repair tags, service reports, and other medical records as applicable). Consults with supervisor or assigned personnel for ordering required medical gases. Maintains PAR levels of Respiratory Therapy Supplies; places supply orders with direct leader approval when needed; maintains documentation on purchase orders. Manages stock of supplies, ensuring stocked areas are organized and well kept (where applicable). Receives, documents and stores a diverse range of medical gases per site protocol. Completes and documents assigned oxygen safety rounds; rounds, documents and changes cylinders on all assigned medical gas manifolds. Manages stock medication inventory and services remote medication carts (where applicable). Provides observations to identify and evaluate the state of equipment to maintain patient and equipment safety. Maintains infection control standards throughout the department and in satellite locations. Maintains safety and security of cylinder inventory and centralized medical gas supply systems. Recognizes and responds to medical gas supply system alarms. Maintains equipment in a state of readiness; manages equipment PAR levels to prevent rentals; coordinates rentals with direct leader approval when necessary. Maintains medical gas and therapeutic supply levels within the department and in satellite locations; works with pharmacy to maintain medications PAR levels where applicable. Communicates and collaborates with all patient care team members including nursing, pharmacy, receiving and transport staff; manages communications between equipment technicians, clinical and biomedical staff. Provides on-call hours as needed; performs other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Lifts a minimum of 10 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs., and stands for a minimum of 6 hours a day. Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

High School diploma, GED, or GED equivalent programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite). Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred

One year experience as a Respiratory Therapy Equipment Technician. Experience with high pressure oxygen cylinders and electrical devices. Licenses and Certifications Preferred

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification. Working Conditions

Lifts a minimum of 10 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day. Compensation

Minimum rate of $18.36 hourly. Hackensack Meridian Health is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members.
