Dewberry is currently seeking a
Water/Wastewater Senior Construction Superintendent
with experience in water and wastewater infrastructure, including pump stations, pressure pipelines, gravity pipelines, and treatment plants. The position is based in
Hampton Roads, VA
with projects in the surrounding area. The Water/Wastewater Senior Construction Inspector will oversee project-specific inspections and constructability reviews during the design phase. Candidates should have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience, with a strong background in water and wastewater facilities, and possess certifications, skills, and the ability to provide resident project representation and construction inspection. Experience with alternative delivery methods such as CMAR, design-build (DB), and traditional design-bid-build (DBB) is preferred. Certification as a Construction Management Professional (CMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is desirable but not mandatory. Monitor contractor operations for compliance with plans, contracts, and specifications. Inspect structural, mechanical, electrical, and site work; coordinate with contractors and agencies; review and guide submittals and schedules; advise on violations and adjustments. Ensure safety procedures are followed and advise on violations. Participate in startup inspections and activities. Take field measurements, oversee materials testing, maintain project records, and monitor progress schedules. Required Skills & Experience
Associate’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred, but not required. Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience. Relevant certifications for water and wastewater construction management and inspection. Ability to interpret construction drawings, apply engineering principles, maintain detailed records, supervise materials testing, and communicate effectively. Experience with alternative delivery methods (CMAR, DB, DBB) is preferred. Knowledge of environmental laws and policies related to construction. Proficiency with computer and inspection equipment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
