Overview
Base pay range: $66,951.00/yr - $94,121.00/yr. This range is provided by NYS Office of General Services. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Duties
Assist in performing civil engineering duties including collecting and analyzing data on existing infrastructure, topography, and environmental conditions. Review water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and other infrastructure systems.
Prepare site civil drawings and details, specifications, estimates, and/or studies for design projects under the direction of licensed staff.
Prepare and coordinate design drawings and related specifications, construction costs estimates, etc., with other disciplines.
Assist in scheduling assigned projects according to workload, priorities, and design schedules.
Assist in the review of reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates prepared by design consultants.
Assist with the supervision of consultant design work.
Develop and maintain project documentation, including records of meetings, correspondence, and progress.
Collaborate with senior designers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
Assist in review of submittals, respond to contractor Requests for Information, create and/or review Information Bulletins, and provide similar construction administration and observation during the project’s construction.
Assist with supervision of junior staff.
Additional duties as assigned.
Operational Needs
Travel may be required (approximately 20%).
Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required.

Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS) and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:
Proof of passing the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below; OR proof of passing the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) AND one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience as listed below.
Qualifying degrees: {Engineering and related fields listed in the original text}.
Qualifying experience: One year of full-time engineering experience related to construction project supervision of the structural and architectural elements of the building.
This title includes a traineeship opportunity, and applicants must meet one of the following:
• A bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or engineering technology (listed above).
OR
• Proof of passing the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) AND one year of full-time engineering experience (listed above).
OR
• Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 16 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
NOTE: In order to award the proper credit for work experience, resumes must include month and year for start and end dates. If any of this experience is less than full time you must indicate the average number of hours worked per week.
