Overview
NTP - Birmingham - 2026 Nucor Technical Academy is a training program designed to teach electrical maintenance fundamentals and to train a person with a high school diploma (or GED) to the level of a maintenance electrician within a two-year (27 month) training period. The program combines classroom instruction with structured hands-on training to prepare the individual to enter the workforce as a Maintenance Electrician. Responsibilities will include hands-on assignments working with experienced Nucor Maintenance Team Members. Location and Schedule

Safety is a core requirement; candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. The Nucor Technical Academy is located and administered at Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa, Inc. in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Selected candidates begin academic coursework online and participate in limited on-the-job training at their sponsoring Nucor division in the first summer and initial fall. Candidates relocate to Tuscaloosa before the initial spring semester and remain there for five continuous semesters. Candidates may return to sponsoring divisions between semesters until graduation. Current high school transcript (2.75 GPA preferred); includes the first semester of the senior year. ACT, SAT, or Accuplacer scores: upload to the application packet if available; if not available, provide before interview. One-page essay explaining how work history, activities, or other interests make you a good candidate; include career or educational goals.
