Construction Superintendent - Healthcare role at
Marand Builders, Inc.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Contractor Healthcare Construction Superintendent to ensure successful execution of construction projects from inception to completion. Candidate should have previous ground-up Hospital or freestanding Emergency Room experience and familiarity with local government entities and their requirements. Responsibilities
Enforce safety compliance (OSHA and Marand safety plan and policies) as the top priority. Supervise the field construction effort to ensure projects meet design, budget, schedule, and customer objectives. Conduct weekly on-site meetings with subcontractors, vendors, and others regarding schedule, safety, and performance. Enforce project procedures, safety programs, and work rules; supervise health and safety of workers per guidelines. Prepare and distribute field reports (daily superintendent’s reports, safety reports, etc.). Complete punch lists in alignment with customer requirements and project budget; manage punch list in Procore. Monitor subcontractors’ progress and ensure adequate manpower to meet schedule and expectations. Prepare subcontractor work schedules and provide input to Project Manager for updating construction schedules. Verify layouts and establish control lines and grades with subcontractors. Respond to subcontractor questions regarding project documents and coordinate with the Construction Manager as appropriate. Participate in pre-construction planning (logistics, means/methods, scope reviews, estimates). Maintain an up-to-date set of contract documents on site and ensure red-line as-builts are kept current. Maintain on-site field office in a professional arrangement and communicate with the Construction Manager on financial, safety, progress, labor, material, quality, and code issues. Mentor and train other Superintendent levels; collaborate with other Superintendents on larger projects. Comply with permit processes and maintain knowledge of relevant local communities. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience. A high school diploma is required; a 4-year degree or associate degree is a plus. Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in healthcare construction, overseeing ground-up hospital/clinic projects, labs, or related facilities. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders. Construction OSHA 30 within the last 5 years (or ability to renew); OSHA-30 Hour Training with recertification every 5 years per Marand policy. ICRA certification; familiar with local government entities. Proficient in project reporting software, MS Office, and blueprint reading; knowledge of Procore preferred. Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, air flow standards, and quality standards. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a proactive, results-oriented approach. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites (travel up to 75%). Physical Demands
Work at construction sites; duties may be indoors or outdoors. Extended hours to meet deadlines; ability to work night shifts. Dexterity to operate iPad, phone, and other devices. Regularly sit, stand, and walk; 20% sitting, 40% walking, 40% standing; heavy physical work up to 50 pounds as needed; climb stairs and ladders. Work Environment
The job is performed on construction sites and in offices; exposure to varied conditions including weather, fumes, noise, and mechanical hazards.
