Mobile Diesel Technician Level II . The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
will perform licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The Diesel Technician II can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher. The role involves learning additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques and complying with all company policies and performance metrics. DUTIES
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc. Diagnose, adjust, and repair similar systems and components listed above. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate/evaluate alternatives. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company-issued service truck; perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections. Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and meet expectations. Manage concurrent tasks with effective prioritization of work and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using the TRAIT application on an iOS device. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner. Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule. Maintain productivity and work within or close to standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs. Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals, retrieve PO numbers, and discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Maintain the company-issued service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections. REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience; alternative combinations such as higher degree/certification or 5 years’ related experience may be considered. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months. Must be able to pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment. Valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; if four months or less remain, a DOT physical is required. Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority. Valid driver’s license; able to obtain/maintain Driver Qualification File. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS OR OBTAINED WITHIN 18 MONTHS
