Bridge Engineer
to support our
East Gulf Region
located in
Mobile, AL; Tallahassee, FL or Nashville, TN .
To be considered for this position, applicants must have at minimum, 5 years of bridge design experience.
Responsibilities
Perform the routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
Projects may include highway or rail bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and sign structures. Analyze structures using various structural engineering software programs such as SAP 2000, LARSA, RISA, MDX, MathCAD, EXCEL, LEAP, LPile, FB-Multipier, AASHTOWare, and/or MicroStation.
Prepare or check structural calculations and details of structural elements for various materials, predominantly steel and prestressed concrete
Review drawings and documents and prepare technical clarifications
Guide designers/drafters to prepare structural designs and/or drawings
Coordinate with other disciplines such as roadway, drainage, and perform checks of documents for conformance to structural drawings
Must be dependable with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team to meet deadlines and provide high-quality work
Perform Load Rating Analysis for different types of bridges
Qualifications
Bachelors or Master 27s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program
5 - 10 years of engineering experience in bridge design
Recent experience in steel and/or concrete bridge design using AASHTO LRFD standards
Licensed PE
Proficiency in using bridge analysis software programs such as Open Bridge Designer, SAP 2000, FB-MultiPier, RISA and LARSA 4D. Familiarity with drafting software such as MicroStation or AutoCAD and other bridge analysis software.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role
Valid driver\'s license
A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
