Overview
Leed Himmel Industries is a full-service supplier, from design to extrusion to fabrication, with emphasis on custom products, reasonable lead times, and competitive pricing. We are looking for an Industrial Maintenance Technician at our Hamden, CT facility to support manufacturing operations and maintain our facility and its systems. This is a Steel Workers Union position. This position reports to the Director of Facility Operations. Standard work hours are 6:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Overtime is on Fridays. Occasional work outside normal hours may be required to keep machines running; breaks or lunch are taken once machines are running correctly. The maintenance department is responsible for interior upkeep as well as exterior maintenance of the building and company land and property. Responsibilities
Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and troubleshoots mechanical, electrical or hydraulic systems Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring them with various instruments Work requires knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, pneumatics, electrical 24 volts—480 volts; stick, TIG and MIG welding; PLC knowledge is a plus Experience with overhead cranes is a plus Must be able to work in high locations using ladders or lifts Experience with forklift and side loaders is a plus Responds to after-hour calls for boiler service or emergency facility issues as needed Maintains inventories of equipment parts and supplies Trains production workers on routine preventive maintenance Provides mechanical maintenance information to co-workers, supervisors and management Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends Maintains a safe and clean work environment by following company procedures and safety regulations May work in hot, cold, wet, or confined spaces and may handle chemicals and processes related to architectural building products Operates machinery and technical equipment Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, or fluid system maintenance Ability to lift and move heavy equipment Adheres to safety standards and regulations; follows verbal and written instructions Willingness to work overtime on short notice, including Fridays and Saturdays as necessary Shows strong mechanical aptitude and on-the-job exposure to mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems Qualifications & Experience
Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers: 1 year Mechanical knowledge: 5 years Experience with 480V 3-phase industrial electrical General industrial building maintenance: 5 years Ability to commute to Hamden, CT 06517 or relocate prior to starting Requirements
