Electrical: Prepares for installation of and installs conduit, circuits, electrical panels, disconnects, and other gear as needed. Troubleshoots for system failures such as faults, outages, and overloads. Rebuilds electric motors, switchgear, and starters. Job Responsibilities
Electrical: Prepares for installation of and installs conduit, circuits, electrical panels, disconnects, and other gear as needed. Troubleshoots for system failures such as faults, outages, and overloads. Rebuilds electric motors, switchgear, and starters.
Plumbing/heating/welding: Installs pipe and associated equipment for system repair and replacement. Performs soldering, brazing and cuts threads to various types of pipe. Rotates boilers and establishes fuel to air ratios for correct combustion. Test steam traps and steam regulators for malfunction and blow through. Rebuilds pumps, automatic valves, and controlling devices. Cuts, welds, and shapes a variety of metals to create parts for assembly, patching and repair work.
Carpentry/painting: Builds shelf units, cabinets, and other furnishings for use throughout the facility. Performs renovation work to improve space for offices, storage, and other departmental needs. Applies coatings and coverings to pieces of equipment, walls, floors, ceilings, and trim. Builds forms and pours concrete.
Air Conditioning/refrigeration/ventilation: Performs leak test and inspects for refrigerant loss. Answers calls on room temperature or air distribution concerns and makes thermostat or air diffuser adjustments. Repairs leaks on piped water system. Repairs insulation on equipment, piping, and duct work. Performs repair to walk-in cooler box hardware and interior fixture parts. If EPA certified Replaces or rebuilds refrigeration compressors and system components such as: expansion valves, condensers, evaporating coils, and fan units.
Preventive maintenance: Performs minor calibrations and adjustments to equipment control set points so equipment can operate within design range. Services moving parts and components as per manufacturers recommendations. Performs routine duties as assigned.
Mechanical: Rebuilds or repairs most machinery and support equipment for building utility systems and services pumps, compressors, conveyors, transport carts, hydraulic tables, laundry washers, ironer/folder, dryers, garbage disposals, food mixers, mowers, trimmers, hand tools, and a variety of patient care equipment.
Landscape/yard care: Prepares and cultivates grounds for planting. Mows grass, trims trees and shrubs. Does weeding, mulching, and watering. Applies fertilizer and sprays insecticides.
Completes and files necessary reports.
Participates in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities.
Acts as security person in absence of Security Officer.
Performs additional duties/responsibilities as assigned as well as those not addressed here.
Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.
Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and hospital policies and procedures including blood and body substance precautions.
Education, Experience And Training
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of two vocational training courses in a related field or two years trade experience required. EPA Type I and Type II certification for handling refrigeration preferred. Must meet the requirements of the Johnson Memorial Health skill level assessment program.
