Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Groveland, Florida.
Pay & Benefits
Hourly Pay: $32.00 per hour
Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
Schedule: Monday through Friday; weekends off
Hours: Second Shift 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Responsibilities
Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)
Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
Complete instructor‑led OEM courses as required for the fleet mix
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance and complex repairs with minimal support
Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computers/software when applicable
Remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solutions for roadside breakdowns
Maintain facility and shop equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with federal, provincial, and corporate guidelines
Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints when assigned a task
Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics
Coach and mentor other level technicians
Advise shop management on shop repairs and operations
Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation
Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications, preferred
Basic tooling proficiency
Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gasoline or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, and advanced/major engine repairs (e.g., diesel after‑treatment, fuel injection)
Four (4) years or more of relevant work experience, preferred
Valid Class A CDL, preferred
All other required certifications for the location
Additional Requirements
Ability to perform all Task 3 (T3) duties
Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Must be available for shift work, weekends, and on‑call duty as required
Prefer ASE certification in Powertrain, Brakes, A/C, Electrical, Electronics, or ASE Master Mechanic
Proficient operation of shop computers and diagnostic test equipment
Minimum tool requirement met
Must road‑test vehicles as necessary
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and influence others
Screening Requirements
Drive Ryder vehicles; must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder drug test
Pass a DOT physical
Pass a Ryder road test
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
