Position Title – Welding Foreman

(Location: Edmond, OK)

Description This position is responsible for overseeing and performing the proper, productive, and safe fitting and joining of tanks and various components using approved welding processes and procedures, while providing guidance and direction to shop welders to ensure quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily activities of shop welders and fabricators.

Review blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to plan work assignments and material needs.

Set up welding operations, ensuring proper joint preparation, equipment calibration, and material handling.

Perform and inspect welding work on bridge beams, guardrail posts, supports, plates, and other steel components.

Verify that all welds meet quality standards, including AWS and DOT specifications.

Train and mentor welders on proper techniques, safety procedures, and shop best practices.

Maintain a safe and organized shop environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety requirements.

Coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure fabricated materials are delivered on time and meet specifications.

Track production progress, material usage, and report any issues or delays.

Operate cutting, grinding, and welding equipment safely and efficiently.

Work harmoniously, cooperatively, and courteously with others at all times.

Follow directions and instructions from supervisors.

Perform a variety of tasks and duties that may change often as the work conditions require.

Work within defined standards of accuracy.

Work in a variety of weather conditions, including temperatures over 85 degrees and below 40 degrees.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Extensive knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux Core) and fabrication methods for structural steel.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings.

Experience with bridge or heavy civil steel fabrication preferred.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., push or pull up to 100 lbs., and work on feet for extended periods.

Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Ability to maintain productivity while meeting tight project deadlines.

Ability to use arms and hand to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects as well as be proficient using welding and cutting tools.

Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.

Ability to perform frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.

Must be able to see and hear well (naturally or with correction).

Ability to travel and work overtime, as requested.

Preferred Qualifications

3–5 years of structural welding experience, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or foreman role.

AWS certification or equivalent credentials preferred.

Technical training or certification in welding or metal fabrication.

Experience working under DOT standards and procedures.
