Responsibilities
Coordinating with client and Mesa engineers, various engineering disciplines, local county and state regulatory bodies, and other parties involved to produce the necessary drawing packages.
Design of substation steel supports, foundations, and other civil and structural tasks associated with substation design.
Perform structural analysis and design of substation steel and concrete elements (transformer and equipment foundations, control building foundations, oil containment, cable trenches, support structures, steel framing, and switch rack design).
Prepare calculations and sealed design deliverables, develop construction drawings and specifications, and review shop drawings.
Apply relevant codes and standards (ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NESC/IEEE as applicable).
Use industry software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, RISA/SAP2000, AutoCAD/MicroStation/Revit) and coordinate with project teams to support timely, constructible designs.
Qualifications
B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering (M.S. a plus)
1–5 years of relevant experience; utility/substation experience strongly preferred but not required
EIT or working toward PE licensure
Strong technical writing, organization, and communication skills
Proactive problem-solving ability and capability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
Occasional site visits and construction support; opportunities for professional development and mentorship
Education/Experience/Licensure
BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university
1 to 5 years’ experience
Professional Engineer (PE), desirable but not required
