Graduation from high school plus a minimum of one (1) year of experience in water treatment plant operation. Experience in mechanical repair work preferred. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and have and maintain an acceptable driving record. A License - 5 or more years of experience ($57,631 starting salary) B License - 3 to 4 years of experience ($52,273 starting salary) C License - 1 to 2 years of experience ($49,784 starting salary) SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Level "A, B or C" Water Treatment Plant Operator License from the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Out-of-State candidates applying for reciprocity of the required license may be considered for this position. Code 1:

Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The Department Head will determine on an incident basis who will be required to work. Under general supervision, performs technical work involved in the operation of the City’s water and/or wastewater treatment plants and related facilities, ensuring operations are within applicable regulations. Work includes preventive maintenance, minor repairs, utilizing SCADA, chemical dosing, reading gauges and meters, collecting lab samples, performing analyses and tests, and inspecting equipment for efficiency. Uses independent judgment to develop operational decisions and communicates issues impacting personnel and operations. Performs general maintenance and housekeeping. Reports to the Plant Superintendent or designee. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Operates treatment plant functions effectively and responsibly. Monitors processes, equipment, and controls for compliance with regulations. Uses data from gauges, flow meters, and control panels to make operational adjustments. Checks filters, pumps, chlorinators, and chemical feeds. Collects and analyzes water and wastewater samples as required. Maintains logs and submits reports as per Department of Environmental Protection standards. Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs, including lubrication. Maintains operational records and assists with start-ups and shutdowns. Advises supervisor on plant operations and compliance issues. Maintains cleanliness and groundskeeping of the plant area. May work shifts, weekends, holidays, and respond to after-hours calls. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs other related work as required. Management reserves the right to modify duties as necessary.
