Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is the leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, offering mobile fleet service for light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers. The company is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet vehicles in a mobile/field environment.

Pay Base pay range: $26.06/hr – $39.13/hr.
Duties
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutches, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using diagnostic instruments and test equipment.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to identify malfunctions.
Road test vehicles to confirm proper operation.
Use sound judgment to evaluate alternatives and generate solutions.
Manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
Operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
Provide excellent customer service, addressing client needs and resolving issues.
Prioritize tasks effectively and manage daily schedule with a high degree of independence.
Employ hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, and lift equipment as needed.
Document work accurately, upload photos, parts lists, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using the company iOS device and proprietary TRAIT application.
Complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely manner.
Maintain the company‑issued service truck with safety checks and inspections.
Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary.
Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates and purchase orders.
Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Maintain a high level of productivity and meet standard repair times.
Requirements
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience (or equivalent).
Possess necessary hand tools for job duties.
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
Maintain a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining until expiration, or complete a DOT physical if less.
Must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license; hold a Driver Qualification File.
Valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
Safe driving record; valid driver’s license required for safe driving duties.
Certifications
Required within 18 months: ASE T8 (PMI).
Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE 608/609.
