Staff Dynamics-Structural Engineer (T05) - R10206499 at Northrop Grumman. This is an on-site role located in Northridge, CA. Clearance type: Secret. Travel: 10% of the time. Relocation assistance may be available. Responsibilities

Join the Loads and Environments / structural analysis team and perform detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans. Analyze, research, and develop materials and related application processes for use in engineering design of structures, systems, and subsystems. Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions. Support analysis needs of defense programs, develop structural loads and dynamic environments (including shock, random vibration, sine vibration, and acoustic environments). Support testing efforts of functional components to dynamic environments and develop data analysis to ensure qualification of flight hardware. Respond to perform structural analysis tasks as needed within the base organization. Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with a minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering experience; or a master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Proactive, strong analytical problem-solving skills. Excellent time management, organization, interpersonal and communication skills. Able to clearly present technical information to all organizational levels. Project and/or Systems Engineering experience is a plus. Ability to work independently to represent the business unit. Familiar with PDR/CDR; knowledge of dynamics in Missile systems. Required Qualifications

Experience in at least one of the following: deriving structural loads, creating FEA models, modeling structural dynamics (shock, vibration, acoustics), dynamic testing of components (shock and vibration), performing modal surveys, analyzing time-series data. Computer skills including Matlab, Python, NX, ANSYS, HyperMesh, Fortran, and NASTRAN. Must be able to pass a background check for the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA). Ability and willingness to travel +10% of the time. Must have an active US Government Secret Security Clearance prior to start. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering with emphasis in structures, dynamics, or controls. Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools (MBSE). Experience with Missile design and analysis. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Living in Northridge offers a blend of urban living with nature and proximity to Los Angeles attractions.
