JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary The Mechanical Designer/Engineer works on design projects to meet customer requirements in a team environment. This position requires meeting project goals such as schedule, manufacturability, and cost. The role primarily focuses on Engineered‑to‑Order (ETO) design projects for Uninterruptable Power Supplies, Power Distribution Cabinets, and Power Switching Cabinets used in data centers. Key duties include creating designs, drawings, bills of material, and processing Engineering Change Orders.
Responsibilities
Create 3D models using sheet metal and part modeling functionality in CAD.
Develop complex drawings and bills of material for sheet metal, bus bar, and assemblies.
Submit, release, and manage engineering changes to product documentation in CAD and the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to achieve project objectives.
Interpret agency design standards (e.g., UL) for our products.
Coordinate prototype orders and ensure material receipt with Project Managers.
Work with the ETO Engineering Supervisor on task lists and priorities.
Engage with ETO team members to break down tasks, discuss design ideas, and resolve issues.
Occasionally contact outside vendors and suppliers as needed.
Apply general knowledge of single and three‑phase power and interpret schematics with electrical components such as fuses and circuit breakers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience OR Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
Strong planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills; team‑oriented and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
3D CAD experience is required; preference for Solid Edge or Creo with sheet metal experience.
Oracle PLM experience is a plus; willingness to learn.
Simulation experience (ANSYS, thermal/airflow) is a plus.
