We are seeking a civil engineer to join our growing team in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. This is a dual role offering an opportunity to work in the field during the construction season and focus on transportation design the remainder of the year.

Responsibilities
Construction observation, inspection, and administration of DOT and local projects in northern Wisconsin and Michigan (UP)
Interprets construction plans and documents, computes quantities and verifies measurements and layouts
Maintains project documentation and daily reports of construction site activities
Works collaboratively with all project stakeholders (client, contractor, sub-consultants) and interact with the public and officials to respond to inquiries and resolve problems
Develop 3D models, exhibits, and plans for transportation, municipal, and site development projects
Assist in technical design for a variety of civil engineering transportation projects
Complete design and reports
Coordinate with utility companies and other agencies
Calculate quantities and develop construction cost estimates
Participate in quality assurance and reviews of design plans, specifications, and estimates
Participate in public involvement activities
Position will include short or long term out of town project travel
Qualifications
AS or BS degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
Previous professional or internship experience in the civil engineering field
Previous DOT roadway/bridge construction inspection experience a plus
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D; MicroStation/InRoads a plus
WisDOT Highway Technician Certification Program credentials, or ability to obtain certification (EMCS will provide training if needed)
Proficiency with MS Office
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver’s license
