Overview
Electric Boat is the premier designer and builder of nuclear powered submarines for the US Navy and we are experiencing a period of unprecedented growth! We are looking for people who want to learn and grow within our Pipefitting Department as we continue to build the most advanced submarines.
Responsibilities Pipefitter Duties Include:
Pipefitters fabricate and install the piping systems that will carry the ship's liquids and gasses at the various pressures
Fabrication and installation of Standard Hangers, Shock Mounted, and Resilient Hangers. Must maintain verbatim compliance with written procedures to insure adequate support and noise control attributes are met.
Apply measurement, fit-up bending and installation skills and techniques to comply with tight tolerances
Pipe fit-up may involve welded joints, silver brazed joints or mechanically fastened joints
Able to work with very small tubing to very large diameter piping
Systems include hydraulic, lube oil, and low pressure air, and low and high pressure steam, sea water, chilled water and potable water
Groom systems to prepare for Company, Navy and Government inspections
Use freeze seals of piping in operational mode to effect repairs
Work conditions may include entry into restricted and confined spaces

Qualifications Required:
Must have a High School Diploma/GED, be a current High School Senior OR 2+ years of relevant technical experience
0-5 years of relevant Pipefitting, Automotive, Construction, or Mechanical experience
Preferred:
Additional preference given for Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
Successful completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative training program
Military Shipbuilding, manufacturing, shipyard, or automotive experience
Skills
Candidate must be able to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, blueprints, test documents, diagrams and perform basic layout functions
Must be able to work all shifts and in all environments as well as Radiological areas of the boat
Willing to accept Road assignments
Must be able and willing to receive and pass Nuclear Pipefitter Training
Individuals will be required to possess their own hand tools
