Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Props Fabricator to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for constructing props and miniature set pieces using a variety of materials, including wood, plastics, foam, and cardboard. This role requires a keen eye for detail, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively with designers and other team members.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret design schematics and sketches
Construct props and set pieces in various scales
Select appropriate construction materials, primarily plastics, wood, resin, foams, etc.
Ensure props are safe for cast and crew use
Work closely with the production and design teams
Repair and maintain models and props as necessary
Assist with modifications as required
Manage inventory of construction materials and maintain tools
Requirements
Proven experience as a prop or modelmaker or a similar role in craft construction
Experience in reading and interpreting design blueprints and sketches
Strong knowledge of tools and techniques
Use of safety gear: goggles, ear protection, and masks
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Willingness to work in-office (not remotely)
Preferred Skills
Creativity and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency with woodshop tools such as table saw, chop saw/miter saw, nail gun, sanders, grinders, power drills, bandsaw, circular saw, jigsaw, oscillating multi-tool, and router
Experience with laser-cutting, film and theater sets, and other fabrication methods
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Experience in metal work, vacuforming, and industrial design principles
